Spring Skincare!

Now that Spring is here, so is the harsh winds of the months. These winds take a toll on your hair and your skin. Exfoliating is the NEW thing. When you put your makeup on for the day REMEMBER to clean and exfoliate your skin for the night. The wind will dry out your skin so much that it will crack and show off the "dead" skin on your face.  By exfoliating you are removing the old, peeling, dry patches that are randomly all over your face. Not washing your face after applying foundation and blush will only increase your dry patches on your face. Making applying foundation on top look horrible. Here is an example of what that looks like.
Typically, dry patches on the face are not as serious! BUT once you apply foundation you will notice dry patches, if you don't wash and exfoliate. Also, hydrating your skin afterwards will improve the smoothness of your skin. A moisturizer with SPF is the best way to go. Even a foundation with SPF will reduce the risk of dry patches. If you have never done any of these steps before I suggest using a Sensitive cleaner and moisturizer. So that your skin doesn't become irritated or in worst cases you have a break out!

I have seen many reviews on EXPENSIVE facial exfoliators, but I am only going to be using Drugstore products.  At Walmart you should be able to purchase a Neutrogen Microdermabrasion cleaning kit for roughly $20.00!! This product has Pads instead of bristles for a more sensitive exfoliation. Although if you prefer bristles, for $22.00 you can purchase Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleaning System
Remember after exfoliating MOISTURIZE!

Nail Art Tutorial

Due to a recent flare up in nail decor, I have decided to post a nail tutorial sooner rather then later. =)
This particular nail art is very simple. Its a tribal design that I believe to be at a beginner level. Meaning you don't need to be an Artist to draw lines & dots. Lol
Below the picture are the steps I took to achieve this Tribal Nail Art.

THE STEPS:
  1. Begin by painting a thin line of polish on the tip of your nail. Usually just where the white tips of your nail is.
  2. Take second polish & place it directly below the first line of polish.
  3. Use a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen to make a black "thin" line in the middle of the two colors you placed, then another black line on the bottom of the second polish also.
  4. Draw a black line threw half of the "naked" part of  your nail. And make a triangle to connect the 2 black lines together.
  5. Continue to make triangles until you reach the other side of your nail.
  6. Finally to complete this look add little dots at the bottom of the last black line you made.

**Add a Top Coat to hold the color**

I am going to start showing How To pictures weekly on the Nail Art trends of 2014. These are just a few of the cute nail designs I have done in the past couple of months. I will try to make them as simple as I can, so it isn't too difficult to understand. If you have a request on a nail design, you might want to know please comment in the space below!

New Hairstyle of 2014!

The Faded Ombre Highlight!

This hairstyle is very unique and low maintenance. No need for continuous appointments to the salon for touch-ups. It is a natural faded highlight that contains your natural hair color mixed in. No more harsh chopped off color. No thick strip of grow out! My stylist and her co-workers went to  Sacramento to learn a NEW TECHNIQUE to applying the color. Not only was it very interesting to observe, but the results we breath taking!

My hair was very choppy and you could see every color I ever had on my hair, which was totally embarrassing! Only because I had NO IDEA it looked like this. My stylist used her magic touch and her newly learned technique to transform my hair.
This hairstyle is very new and in my town I am the first to get it! :)
Need a new hair and unique hairstyle? Pick this one.

DIY Liquid Foundation

Have you ever bought a powder foundation and taken it home to find out that it was extremely LIGHT?! I have done that a couple times, but just recently I have found a SOLUTION! Here is the Liquid Foundation I made out of a Maybelline Mineral Powder foundation that was too light for me.

Here's what you will need:
  • Too light powder foundation
  • Facial moisturizing lotion
  • Skin tone matte(none shimmer) eyeshadows
  • An orange stick or a tooth pick
  1. Add a darker matte eyeshadow to the " TOO LIGHT" powder for darkening. Do not use an eyeshadow that you are extremely fond of because you will be using half, if not all of the shadow to darken the powder.
  2. Then add your favorite facial moisturizing lotion and mix extremely well. This part is messy, so be prepared to get some powder and lotion on the surface you are using.
  3. Test the color on yourself, adding more eyeshadow to darken if needed.
This is an awesome DIY that will be a great tip to remember for the future

Hate working out? THEN DANCE!

Just start moving. You don't need to have weights or run a mile to get fit. Sure, going to a gym can help plus I'm sure there are a lot of you who enjoy doing it. But if you are like me and also think working out is boring. DANCE.
When you dance, you can feel the same burn and have the same passion if not more. Enjoying yourself while working out can lead to more frequent "workouts". Not only will you enjoy yourself, but it will put you in a good mood for the rest of the day. At least that's how I feel when I get done. My thighs, lower abdominal and calves burn for a good 30-45 mins with each "workout" session.  I simply put on my Pandora, click my "Pop and Hip Hop Workout Radio" station and get MOVIN"!

If you don't believe Dancing can help you workout,
here are some stilled shots of one of my dance workouts.

You can see my muscles flexing as I'm moving. If you throw in a couple of arm movements you can also work out your arms! Just feel the beat and dance your heart out. No one can see you, no one will make fun of you, and no one can tell you that your doing it wrong. In the end, if you do decided to give Dance workouts a try I hope that you enjoy yourself and have FUN working out!

Hair Chalk?! Lets Chalk it up!

Hair chalk is usually used during the summer for that cute hipster hairstyle. When you are short on cash & need a quick solution for your color. Hair chalk is your friend.  Although, I do not recommend using it if you have something extremely nice on because the chalk does rub off a bit.

STEP BY STEP
  1. Brush out your hair: To get rid of any tangles or knots in your hair for easy application.
  2. Depending on product, use the little sponge(given in package) under the strand of hair you want to color so you don't make a complete mess. If the product did not come with one, it is OK you will just have to wash your hands afterwards.
  3.  Place chalk(chalk side down) on top of the hair strand, half way up your hair length or just after your roots. This part really depends on if you like a peek-a-boo or highlight style. =)
  4. Once you've found where you would like to start; push gently on the chalk while sliding it down your hair. Do not go up & down with the chalk! It will cause the hair to tangle or frizz up.
  5. After reaching the bottom take the chalk pad/stick off of your hair & go back to the start of your line. Only go down with the chalk, never up.
  6. Style your hair with LIGHT heat or nice braid to complete the look.  Or just leave it straight. Lol
  7. FINALLY spray your hair with finishing spray or a light-weight hairspray to avoid major wear off.

Here is how I used it!

My hair was fading from Purple to Orange.

THEN
Pink Purple fade!

Like I said in my previous post I have thick hair, so I used my whole pan of chalk on just the orangish parts.
This result is more then satisfying, I loved it! I threw in a nice crown braid to complete my look and went about my day.
Hair Chalk is one of the greatest short term hair "dyes". Even though its for a couple hours I still say that it is worth purchasing. The brand I bought was the Splat Hair Chalk and I paid about 6.89 before tax. But I found that Amazon has better deals on hair chalk then local stores in my town.
I hope you all enjoyed today's blog!

Hair Masks?!

Let me just start off by saying, that I will be adding to this topic as time goes on. I have thick hair & I love hair products, whether it be a dry shampoo or an oil serum I am willing to try it out. It's a trial and error thing, right?

This product I purchased at the Sally Beauty Supply in Wenatchee, Washington for $3.39 before tax.
It is a hair mask that contains Macadamia Oil and was said to "repair" your hair after using for a couple of weeks. Well, the instructions were to leave it on for roughly 7 min. while your hair is wet. So, for my hair since its so thick and frizzy; not a curly frizz but a straight EXPLOSION, I left it on for 20 minute. I really didn't have to leave it on for that long, however I am a stay at home mom and lost track of time. :)

Mind you I did this mask right before bed, so I rinsed it off and went to sleep.
Then I woke up, styled my hair & the PICTURE SHOWN IS THE RESULT!!! This was only after 1 use!  I love this product so much and I will be buying it from now on! $3.39 can't bet that, especially when it has such amazing results.
